There is not enough work being produced
Well, sifting through my collection of news I found this story from NPR's Talk of the Nation, talking with an author, the story is called Stop Reading and Start Writing and it's an interview and Q&A with author Walter Mosley.
If you don't believe me that you need to loosen up and make more work? Listen to this story.
Replace the word Author with Architect, Novel with Thesis, Plot with Theory, Characters with Details, you get the gist.
The act of creating writing and design are linked, it's why you have to write a thesis document, it's also why so many architects are interested in language. You simply have to get into the groove of working, regularly, and steadily towards achievable goals. Your not going to sit down in a moment of inspiration and finish the entire thesis, you need to spend the time and effort to produce work that we can talk about.
As I said last night - I'm no longer interested in talking about stuff that isn't drawn, built, pictured, or worked on. It's time to produce, it's time to think about the architectural scales, the human scales, and how these spaces go together to support the great ideas you guys have.
- You don't need any of the three thesis advisers to tell you how to make progress, to make progress.
- You don't have to wait to ask a question you can email.
- While your waiting for help on one thing, you can be working on at least six other things (you might answer your own question)
Give yourself a daily schedule of achievements to make and make them.
See you Thursday or Friday in person, on the blogs, and email before that.
